Job Description

Seeking voice talent to host an English language learning podcast: www.businessenglishpod.com

Voice Characteristics:

Natural, friendly tone with a moderate pace for non-English speaking listeners. In order to allow our non-English speaking audience to understand and follow the audio, the voice talent should be able to add extra natural pauses to sentences rather than slow down the rate of speech. Overall, the style should be closer to an educational program or e-learning site, rather than a podcast for native English speakers.

An example of the desired pace is available on our website or by direct download here:
http://cdn2.libsyn.com/bizpod/BEP087ADV-Accomplishments2.mp3

All our podcasts are fully scripted and usually require no editing expect for minor typos. The average script runs 2,200-2,600 words but the host only needs to read on average 800-1,200 words (remainder is for example dialogues and phrases recorded locally by the client).

We produce 4/5 podcasts per month and are looking to hire male and female voices to alternate as hosts (2 podcasts each per month). Scripts are usually prepared 2-4 weeks in advance of the release date. We currently have 8 completed scripts we are looking to record in April.

Final assembly of audio will be done by the client. We just need a clean voice track with spaces to be able to cut in our locally recorded voices.

This is steady, ongoing work and we are looking for hosts with the longterm in mind.

Please find a portion of the script below for audition purposes. Full script available in attachment.

Hello my name is XXXX . For today's lesson, we're going to focus on the “classic sales” approach to selling products and services. This approach is based on explaining the features, attributes and benefits of your products using the “FAB” technique.

We rejoin Marco and Francesca on their trip to a fashion expo in the U.S. Their company, Viva, has just created an exciting new line of clothes. With the help of their American partner, Foxtrot, they are hoping to get a couple big sales contracts with U.S. department stores.

The listening takes place in the Foxtrot showroom. We’ll hear Francesca speak to a potential customer, Bill, who is a buyer for Bancroft’s, a high-end retail chain store that targets professional women.

As you listen, try to answer the following questions. The answers will be posted in a few days on our website.

1. What is the key feature of Viva’s fall colors this year? Can you name a couple of them?
2. Why is the Viva Professional line more expensive?
3. As described in the dialog, what are the main benefits of Viva’s clothing line?
