Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources
Chapter 1: Food Products and Processing Systems Pathway

For the first pathway let’s take a look at careers in food products and processing systems. These careers focus on food production and can include scientists working to make food safer, engineers who control health hazards or the employees who actually process the food we eat.
Now we will take a deeper look into this pathway and investigate jobs in science, engineering and food quality, and safety career paths.
Scientists, Biochemists, dieticians, microbiologists, nutritionists, food scientists, bacteriologists and toxicologists are just a few of the scientists in the food products and processing field.
These and other scientists can focus their studies on many different areas. These may include researching the composition of food, analyzing the nutrient content found in food, discovering new food sources, investigating food safety issues, or searching for the most ideal food preparation and packaging methods.
Agricultural scientists who are involved in management or basic research tend to work a standard 40 hour week in offices or laboratories.
