Job Description

This is for a non-profit organizaiton. We have a 24 hour totline for hte elderly - called "The Elder Info Line". We are looking for Talent to record talking books (short), newsletters, medical topics, tips and remedies.

Script follows:

My name is Joyce Allen and I am the mother of three totally selfish children.

Yeah, I love them and don’t regret having them, but if one of them calls me one more time asking for money, I’m going to lose it!

Take Jenny, for instance. She’s a little different. She’s what they call a career college student. Can you believe she’s 38 years old and STILL working on her degree? I think she just be a little slow. She has to be. In school for 20 years and nothing to show for it? What a waste.

And then there’s Charlie whose decided he’s my father. Always telling me what to do. “Mom, you should stop dying your hair”, he says. “Isn’t that dress a little short?”, he says. I think to myself, “You’re only 34! I’ve been around for 62 years. I know what I like!”

And that brings us to Doris. Super calm, not a care in the world, Doris. Doris who is a vegetarian and only drinks spring water. She’s 35 years old, never married and seems only to be in love with purity and peace. It’s not a bad thing. She just irritates me when she says, “Oh mom. Your hip doesn’t really hurt. It’s in your head. And even if it does hurt, just THINK it away. Wanna try some yoga?” I’ll pass.

I’ll bet you thought I was going to be some poor senior giving you a sob story about how I’m so distraught since my kids left me behind, right? Ha! Well the joke's on you! When my kids left me behind, they left me with peace of mind. Now, if I could only convince them to stop bugging me so much. I’m quite capable of having a productive, quiet day alone. Contrary to their belief, I’m not a lonely old geezer.

To listen to the continuation of this book, continue to call every month for updates. The complete book will be available for ordering shortly.
