Dan Keenan is a mellow-voiced master of friendly persuasion, Listenable and likeable, Dan delivers convincing intelligent readings with appeal and quiet authority.

Dan's in his prime. His is one of those quintessential rare golden accent free North American voices. Dan developed his vocal strengths and talents over decades of acting and singing on stage, doing live and recorded work behind the microphone on radio or in a studio, and performing on camera as a national commercial spokesman or local TV news anchor or program host.

Here's what veteran international pop and country singing star Sue Thompson says about Dan:
"In the early 1950s, I started working in radio, live television and the recording business in San Francisco, then Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Nashville. Believe me, Dan Keenan is a class pro in the old school mold: great voice, adaptable and always believable. And a really nice guy, too!"

Dan Keenan is a versatile vocal track and field man. He can do quick spints, knocking out 30 and 60-second spots in one or two takes. In the middle distances, up to an hour of narration, he paces himself and maintains consistency and energy to maintain a seamless delivery. He's a marathoner, too. Under the name "Tony Barbour," Dan helped established unparalleled standards by voicing or directing several audio books of unabridged fiction and non-fiction in the formative years of today's standard bearer in the field of recorded books.

Of another audiobook book Dan narrated, one national review stated: "The spoken version is in some ways even better than the book. The human voice--through inflections, tones, pauses, etc.--can create effects the written word cannot, especially when, as here, the voice belongs to a skilled actor/narrator."

An independent critical expert on unabridged audio book narrators recently ranked the top 135 narrators of all time, On a scale of 1-4 with 1 as the highest rating, Dan Keenan aka Tony Barbour rated a 2.0. With all his experience, one might asssume this guy may be over the hill. In a chronological sense, perhaps yes. But over that hill lies a deep, rich valley of youth. In the voice actor business, Dan sounds like a man in his 40s or so. Some of the material on his demo is dated by the text and some is brand new. Any difference you hear will be that between analog and digital recording techniques, That's all.

"The spoken version is in some ways even better than the book (by David Howarth). The human voice--through inflections, tones, pauses, etc.--can create effects the written word cannot, especially when, as here, the voice belongs to a skilled actor/narrator (Dan Keenan as "Tony Barbour"). The program merits four stars."
