Jack Hicks has gone from major market radio announcer to one of the fastest growing, trusted, voice over talents in the country.
Jack was a radio personality at the largest rock station in the U.S. in the 80's and 90's, KQRS-FM, Minneapolis. At the peak of his career, however, he lost his job due to laryngitis. After a brief period of self pity, Jack decided to devote his life to learning about the human voice; how to use it, how to protect it and cultivate a sound that is rich and relaxed.
Once he got serious about the voice over profession, Jack has recorded hundreds of Television commercials, Radio commercials, e-learning projects, explainer video narration projects, training videos, internet videos, educational scripts, public television narration and VO projects of every sort and description.
Voice Style The first word that comes to mind when describing Jack's voice is "friendly." He has been described as sincere and trusted, genuine, authentic and the "guy next door voice."
Jack has been told by producers that his voice is in the sweet spot of demographics and can sound from 30 to 55 depending on the project. He is frequently asked to do voice overs that are targeted to the 25-54 demo.
Jack's unique Friendly voice style is hard to compare to other voice artists, but some have said he sounds like "Jim from the Office" (John Krasinski).
Because of his former radio background, Jack has done his share of hard-sell automotive commercials for local clients around the U.S. But has moved on to more conversational and real guy commercials.

I've had the pleasure of recording Jack on numerous occasions, and he never fails to be a pro on all levels. He's smart, articulate, funny and understands session dynamics very well.Andre Bergeron, Babble-On Recording Studios
As a VO talent, he has a nice range, is very adaptable at handling the quick changes, alternative inflection suggestions and copy edits that might inundate a less polished voice actor. His sound is smooth, rich and natural and he can add or subtract elements of any of those when asked to do so.
Additionally, since he is also a musician, he brings the ability to understand the rhythm and flow of copy in a way that makes it not feel as if he's simply "reading aloud". This is not a particularly easy trait to find, and it makes recording Jack a welcome experience.
