Joe Haynes: Bringing voice to your business one word at a time.
Hi Joe, it was nice working with you and introducing you to the voice over world! Our class was fun. I'm also filling in some information below on your voice, performance, and my thoughts on what's next.Edge Studios
About Your Foundation Voice
You are fluent in English. The vocal age range that I hear you being marketable in is 45 to 55.
About Your Natural Delivery
Your pacing is normal (not too fast or too slow), which is great for most types of copy.
You're naturally dynamic. This makes it easy to add enthusiasm and a variety of colors to your delivery.
I notice that your delivery style is corporate, educational, informative and powerful.
You naturally sound like a dad and news anchor.
About Your Performance
Here are some of your strengths:
During the class, you demonstrated that you have control over your voice. This ability will ultimately help you sound more professional.
The fact that you take direction well and were able to apply it to your reads will make directors love you!
You have good natural acting ability.
You had good cold readings, which is a great skill because cold readings can be tough.
Your enunciation was good.
And here are some things to work on . . .
You will need to work on some general newcomer challenges. This includes the basic concepts worked on in class (using volume, pitch, etc). Further training usually helps work these issues out.
What's Next For You
Based on your performance during the workshop, and knowing what casting professionals are looking for, this is something you should do! You did really well in the class and had good control of your voice and naturally have a marketable voice. You have enough potential to run a part-time to full-time career providing voice-overs! And many people at your level do this part-time for a while and eventually turn it into a full-time career (after they have some experience). Hopefully this is something you will choose to pursue, and if you do, we'll always be glad to help you any way we can. So enjoy your training (and seriously, please take advantage of all the classes that are included so you're totally ready for real work!).
We recommend you move towards a Narration demo focusing in Corporate/Industrial, Documentary and Medical and Pharmaceutical.
We recommend you move towards a Commercial demo focusing in standard commercial style.
