Ian Borland

  Perth, GB

I have a soft-spoken (lowland/mid-east) Scottish accent. (not coarse or broad)
Excellent diction, projection and pronunciation.
I am new to voices.com, but already have previous experience of voice narration & excellent references.
My personal voice-over page is now up. (Website hidden)
where you can find examples of just some of my recent work along with some client feedback.
I am very comfortable with delivering all kinds of presentations and training, both live and recorded as well as in virtual worlds and have oodles of experience narrating training courses of my own design and for contracted clients as I tend to specialise in screencasts or walkthroughs on video.
(I very much enjoy comedy and mimickry too - so I don't mind hamming it up).
I had often been complimented on my \"nice voice\", but only recently realised it is an asset, so consequently have added this to my freelance portfolio and am actively seeking voice work. So far the feedback has been very encouraging. I am fully equipped, working from home as a modestly successful IT freelancer with well-honed skills in audio and video editing and experience of multi-channel audio mixing desks etc., My background in Radio Communications and Electronics also helps me to understand the technical issues of Voice Transmission. I am equally happy ad-libbing or following scripts and can generally ad-lib fluently for long periods without stammering. I have also written scripts for other voice-over actors in different styles and have experience of editing and synchronising these to video. I have produced Videos using sub-titling software too so I can provide Closed Captions in SRT format or as finished videos. I am also skilled in transcription. I have a good command of English language and write and self-publish books and training materials from notes to full technical manuals and presentations in Powerpoint, etc.

Mature Trainer/Presenter with soft-spoken Scottish Accent. (not broad Scots)
Good pace, projection, diction & enunciation.
I honed my voice skills as a Radio Operator in HM Forces and as a GPO Telegram Officer and later 15 years as an Instructor. Later still developed Multimedia & e-Learning products and did scripted and ad-libbed narration. I also have excellent IT skills to edit and produce Audio/Videos, Screencasts, (Camtasia, etc.)
To be honest, I have been doing this for years, but only just realised my voice is an asset as I was asked to do narration as part of another contract, so I have added this skill to my freelance portfolio and am actively seeking work in voice-over. I am starting to get jobs and getting good feedback which is very encouraging. voices.com is new to me, but I have put together a web page at (Website hidden)

Private Expeditions

I am more than happy.

The Inn, Abernethy

Ian worked with us for a period of three months from May - August 2014.
Ian edited voiced over Powerpoints that had been recorded in Camtasia and exported them to MP4 Videos.
Ian completed the editing efficiently and to a very high standard. He kept meticulous records of all the edits he had made to each recording and was regularly in touch with updates about progress or any issues he had encountered with our recordings.
We would certainly have no hesitation in using Ian in the future for any other editing work or in recommending him to other organisations.
