For as long as I can remember, music and talking have been in my wheelhouse.
The truth is, my brain is a 24/7 music generator and jukebox. It’s always been this way.
I actually started playing my younger brother’s toy xylophone at age 1 1/2 and started speaking college-level english at about that same time… (Thanks for the early tutoring, mom!) When my poor mom first heard me playing, “Puff the Magic Dragon”, she thought someone had broken into the house. Imagine her surprise when she saw that it was ME playing!
I wasn’t very good at sports and physical stuff as a kid. I was the well-spoken nerd that spent lunch and recess in the piano room. Don’t pity me… It’s not a bad thing. These years are what laid the groundwork for a career as a working keyboardist/vocalist. What fun!
In addition to playing music for live crowds, playing gigs gave me years of experience speaking to people via a microphone. Needless to say, (but I’ll say it anyway); being comfortable speaking on a mic, is crucial to success as a voice over artist. In addition, pro level keyboard playing skills are indispensable when it comes to modern music production methods.
After a few years of the road life, I enrolled at The Dick Grove School Of Music to study electronic composing and arranging. My teachers were professional arrangers, composers, conductors and technicians from the movie, music and television industries. Guest speakers included music industry legends like Henry Mancini and Billy Taylor. This was THE school EVERY professional musician wanted to study at. I felt so very lucky to be accepted there!
The hands-on experience and knowledge I gained during the Grove years, and my continuing time as a professional musician, have been, and continue to be, the musical edge I draw upon with my clients. After all… all of the state-of-the-art equipment I own, would be of no use without my talent, my experience, and my training.
So, here’s the thing:
All of this stuff you just read, although important, is nothing without the desire to truly help others.
I do what I do, because I want my clients to beam with joy when they hear and see how incredibly their video’s narration and musical underscore turned out… When they hear their podcast come to life with the music I’ve created for them or when they can’t stop replaying the radio spot I just completed for them because they love it so much.
English is my native language. If you need help with the script, I’ll be there for you. It’s easy for me and I don’t mind contributing in this capacity. If you are new to film making, I can help you with the process as it relates to what you need from me. Do you need additional voice talent or specialty musicians? I can provide what YOU need. Whatever the form of media is, I have probably done it and my experience is available to you for the asking.
We haven’t met yet, but I hope we meet soon.
Let’s make something great… You and I… Together.
