My first acting gig was performing a one-woman rendition of The Little Mermaid for a small group of fourth graders in the back of a school bus in Brooklyn (musical numbers included). From there, my career mostly consisted of doing voices for the amusement of family and friends, from Wakko Warner to my mother--until college. Upon meeting me, people are often shocked to learn that I have a strong track record of playing very dark characters in spite of my incredibly sunny disposition. If you take a look at my acting reel, it's nothing but laughs: a crumbling marriage, a young woman in the aftermath of a hit-and-run accident, and an Iraqi war prison interrogation gone awry. On stage, you're more likely to have seen me in over-the-top character roles, from the psychedelic Gwen in Lanford Wilson's Fifth of July to Aunt Augusta's various foreign male lovers in Travels With My Aunt (I went to a women's college). The uniting factor in all of these is honesty; above all else, I'm always looking to create something people can recognize themselves in and relate to.
While my natural voice leans more professorial or corporate, I am certainly versatile. My most recent VO gig was playing a squeaky, Brooklyn-accented prostitute named Fifi in a musical feature with puppets called Gutboy: A Badtime Story. I've also started narrating audiobooks for Audible. I love playing multiple characters, male and female, young and old.
