David Rumelle


David was born in Solihull and trained at the Birmingham school of speech and drama.

David was part of the resident company at Midland arts Centre for two years-most notably in Treasure Island and Arabian Nights-as deviser, writer and music creator. David’s own company Theatre Compound won critical acclaim on tour with his productions of Bent, The Normal Heart, Someone Who’ll watch over me and Elsie and Norm’s Macbeth-directing and appearing in each.

David's skill as a radio actor and voice artist secured him the role of Hugh Paddick in Round the Horne-revisited –including the original west end cast, the BBC television production and subsequently the original West End cast of Stop Messing About.

National tours and plays in rep have included Suddenly at Home, Murder with love, The Sound of Murder, The Real Monty, On Golden Pond, Time and the Conway’s, A Christmas Carol, ,A Touch of Danger, Sweet Revenge , Deathtrap, Blithe Spirit, Inside Job” , Strangers on a train , One For the Pot. Strictly Murder, and The Titfield Thunderbolt. He also appeared as drag queen Gloria in three tours of the hit comedy-Ladies Night.

Musicals have included Blondel, The Sound of Music, Our Day Out, City of Angels and the Narrator in The Rocky Horror Show .David regularly appears in music hall and his own one man shows, concerts and cabaret, including The Magic of Gilbert and Sullivan, and themed shows featuring the work of Coward, Kern Gershwin, Tom Lehrer and Flanders and Swan.

David regularly performs as Dame in pantomime and will be appearing in his 17th consecutive role as dame in "Snow White",this Christmas at the Deco theatre-Northampton

Television appearances have included Soldier Soldier, Miss Marple-The Mirror Cracked, Kinsy, 2.4 Children ,Minder and as Lord Nelson in the 2000 Royal Tournament in London.

2012 has seen David touring the uk in the hit comedy A Bedfull of Foreigners and starring with Alex Reid in “WILDBOYZ”-as co- writer and deviser.
He recorded the "autobiography" of Dame Hilda Bracket -"in character"-as a tribute to half of the popular comedy duo Hinge and Bracket-RELEASED 2012
