OTHEL ROBERT OWEN
Othel Robert Owen was destined for acting and the movies. Othel first caught the acting bug at six months old while watching movies shown weekly at the “Reel Moms” movie program at the Lowes Theatre. While the other babies were either sleeping or crying, little Othel was watching the movies. He even took some of his first steps at the Lowes Theatre at eight months old where he would walk around the theatre like he owned it.
From an early age Othel would watch the various Disney and PBS shows and reenact the scenes by repeating them and doing reenactments with his toys. At five years old Othel started asking his parents to allow him to act. At six years old, Othel made his debut into film as the lead actor in “Eric’s Haircut”, an autobiographical account of a boy’s trip to the barber shop. The film short was debuted in August 2011 at the Gene Siskel Theatre at the Black Harvest Film Festival where Roger Ebert gave him two thumbs up.
After his movie debut in “Eric’s Haircut”, Othel was picked up by two talent agencies and went on to work on commercials for companies such as Old Navy, Prime Time Pizza, Big O Tires, Geico, Chipp’d, McGraw Hill and AARP. Othel was in Clown Time, an Industrial Film for Second City Chicago and he has also worked as an extra for “Boss” starring Kelsey Grammer and as an extra on “Chicago Fire”. In June 2012, Othel traveled to the UK to participate in Twin Towns, a documentary for the SKY TV Channel. In January 2013, Othel was chosen to work with Nike for the “Let’s Move” Kick off Campaign for First Lady Michelle Obama. Othel will have a cameo appearance in “Hogtown,” a feature film that will premiere at the Black Harvest Film Festival in August 2014. He will also star as Oz in “Reverie Lane”, a feature film by Director Stephen Folker that will be released in the 2015. Othel has also appeared in a couple of short films by Columbia College film students.
Othel’s modeling debut was for the 2011 Winter Holiday Issue of Child Model Magazine. He has also appeared in Kidz Rock Fashion Magazine and Making of a Model Magazine as an upcoming model. Othel may also be seen on the J&S Printing Website, Ashton Ray Hansen Photography Website, and on Old Navy’s Website for the NFL Gear (September 2012).
Born September 25, 2003 in Chicago, IL, Othel is currently in Fifth Grade and in his spare time enjoys taking Improv classes at Second City, performing with Lookingglass Theater’s Young Ensemble, acting, watching movies, karate, traveling and playing with his friends.
