I am a 37-year-old guy who was born and raised in Fresno, California... An IT Professional by trade, and a musician in my spare time. I am a senior network administrator for a prominent IT consulting firm who services computer networks in the Central Valley, and have tons of experience when it comes to recording everything from live gigs, studio sessions, professional training, and even voice-over work for things like company phone systems.
I am excited to be able to bring my years of experience to voices.com, where I feel that I will be a valuable asset to those of you who are looking for someone to provide professional, well-made voice-over recordings.

Although this is, honestly, my first attempt at looking for voice-talent-related jobs, I decided that it made sense to consider myself a professional as I do actually have a good amount of experience in the area. Specifically...
I am a musician and have been playing in various types of (performing) bands for about 16 years, where I would sing either back-up or lead vocals on some songs. Also, I have been heavily involved in the setup and configuration of performances at hundreds of live venues and have either engineered or helped to engineer studio sessions - which means that I am very familiar with audio engineering, mixing, and a few different pieces of audio editing software (i.e. Cubase, Audacity, some Pro Tools, etc.). I have a solid understanding of the science of sound in general. That being said, depending on the requirements of a given assignment, I can easily do most everything myself.
Another example of experience from my past that comes to mind would be that, at one of my previous day jobs (where I worked in the IT department for many years) I was responsible for configuring and monitoring our in-house Voice over IP phone system. The company was in need of someone to create the "Automated Phone Tree" (the system that automatically answers incoming calls and replies with "Please press 1 for Sales, 2 for Technical Support", etc.). After giving it some consideration, upper management decided that it would be best for me to record all of the required messages and program them into the system. This turned out to require many hours of work, but I completed it in a timely manner and they continued to use the system with my voice for about two years (until they were purchased by another tech company).
...I believe that I still have some of the audio files that were used and will attach them to my profile here, if I can find them.
Otherwise, the only other thing worth mentioning might just be that I've had a couple of people (one of them being an audio engineer himself) tell me that I happen to have a great speaking voice, and that I may be able to do something like this.
I am passionate about music, acting, and doing things professionally. I happened to come across this site and realized that I could earn a little extra money, while providing excellent service to people who need it... everybody wins! ;-)
I hold two associates degrees in Computer Science. I specialize in computer network design, implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
Secondly, I have spent much of my college career being involved in the study of music - Ranging from classical guitar to Jazz Improvisation, as well as audio recording.

I have been around recording studios since before I could even reach a soundboard (my father is a fairly well-renowned Audio Engineer and Musician), am the go-to guy in the band when it comes to anything involving the setup and general audio process for our live gigs, and have been playing with audio software since I learned how to use my Dad's Macintosh Classic (a computer from the mid-1980's). I love music and recording, and feel like I should have started doing something like this many years ago.
The bottom line: I'm excited to get started! Let's do this!
