Born in Carmel, California, USA on 5 October 1975, Esther Holbrook was raised in Oregon and moved to Budapest, Hungary in 1998 after receiving her BA in Political Science and Communications from Southern Oregon University. She has worked at local weekly Budapest Week English Language newspaper, World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC) Budapest, Hungary Around the Clock news service, the Roma Press Center (Roma Sajtóközpont), and Resource Magazine, as well as writing for Fodors Budapest guidebooks and copyediting for CEU Press and other publishers. As well as maintain an amateur acting career, Holbrook regularly works as a voice actor at local Budapest studios.
