Overview

How did Scott Stewart get his first film acting role? He was asked directly by Billy Bob Thornton.

Stewart and Thornton became friends during their work on the CBS sitcom Hearts Afire. It was during this time Thornton approached Stewart about playing Bubba Wooldridge in his break-out movie, Sling Blade.

That was 1996, but it wasn’t until 2003 that he started taking it seriously. “I began to realize if I was ever going to make it anything more than a dream I would have to start taking deliberate action,” Stewart says. After private mentoring at Denver’s Academy of the Arts, he began to pursue auditions and set measurable goals.

Stewart has been acting in the Colorado film community for eight years, and he has solid experience on both sides of the camera.

After graduation from USC in Los Angeles, he held various production roles with at CBS Studio Center in Studio City, California.

He served as Production Assistant on the CBS sitcoms 'Hearts Afire', 'Evening Shade', and 'Designing Women'. He worked as Post-Production Coordinator for 'Hearts Afire', starring John Ritter and Markie Post, as well as Post-Production Assistant on the series 'Women of the House'.

Stewart continues to nurture his love for the art of performance. “I love the fact that I can experience all of the emotion of a particular character, ‘act’ on those emotions, and yet not be personally responsible for it. It’s awesome!”

A native of Arkansas, he currently calls Colorado home, but he’s looking to take his dream to the next level. “I still love acting as much as I did in the beginning, and I continue to be excited about what the future holds. As I heard it once put, ‘Never fear the space between your dreams and reality.’”
