story of a father by E. J. Herrera, dedication to my family, friends and everyone coming to the United States for a better life Table Contents, Chapter one The beginning, Chapter two, The journey Chapter three, The American Dream chapter 4 15 Chapter one The beginning This story begins in a small town in Northern Mexico in the 1960s. The town was a town of farmers and rural roads. A baby is born, a baby named Ernesto and his brown eyes and dark brown hair that brought joy to his siblings and parents. He was a child of the family. The father was a farmer and the mother took care of the Children full time but it was definitely the head of the household growing up, Ernesto would work with the father doing different things like taking care of the cows, pigs, chickens and horses. He would also help with farming the lands that his family needed to survive, which he took as a big responsibility. He was the youngest at the time and had to prove himself to his siblings who were older and stronger than him. He had this drive to work hard and do better for than his siblings. There would come a time after a few years that when two other Children, a boy and a girl will join the family and he would take care of them and keep them safe. The Children family had to share clothes and many uh many things as possible because the family was struggling financially. Chapter two the journey Ernesto will continue to help his family until the age of 15 years old. He wanted to change and he was told about the American dream. He inspired to go and come back to help his family with the money he took to the United States. Four of his brothers were already in the United States and he wanted to meet up with them, meet up with him. All four brothers were in California where there was ample opportunities for work. He was committed to go ahead and make a decision to go to California. Before Vanessa left, he was dating a girl named Tanya from town across the river and told her to wait for him to come back Tanya Oblige and she would wait for him to come back. It was hard for us to say goodbye to his girlfriend, but he wanted to make sure he could provide for her because he wanted to marry her in the future. Her net still made his journey with very little money, a couple pairs of clothes. A dream of a better life, Sadness to leave his family and the fear of the unknown. In the early 1980s, he heard countless stories of people who attempted the same journey and the real was the end of the journey for them. Whoever lost the tides of the river, he knew the risk of losing his life, but his drive was too strong for him to turn back and give him an opportunity for the american dream. Next over Would get a ride from this from a friend to the capital city of Durango, which is four hours away. The plan was round to head over to the San Francisco Bay area which is 1700 miles away from the capital capital city of state of Durango. He knew the journey was long but it didn't deter him. After many weeks of walking hitchhiking and scare your money for food, he would make it a Tijuana baja California where he would have a relative nearby to set him up for his crossing into the United States. He did not realize that this would change his life forever and set his dreams into motion. He would go, he would go do odd jobs throughout California, working in various jobs such as burger restaurants, nor for the golden arches. He would save up money to send to his family, his parents in the small town of in Mexico so they could survive and feed the rest of the Children. He would find himself very once in a while going back to a small town in Mexico and California. He would always find his way to Tanya. He would end up who would end up his future wife and have many Children many years later and it still will tell his journey to others in town and many others were inspired to do the same journey to the United States for themselves and their families. Chapter three The American Dream Ernesto would move to the state of Washington where he knew it was better with job opportunities. In Washington. He would get a job working at a fast food restaurant and always, always writing to Tanya a letter whenever he could, he would go back and forth to see her when he could for a few years. It was late, it was in the late 1980s when Tonya would finally make the journey to the United States and join him in Washington State. They were so happy and kept falling in love with each other. Ernest. Sometimes you end up getting married in 1988, her first child was born, a baby boy named Ernesto Junior. They were a static to have their first child together. Her sister ended up leaving with a boy for a while traveling to California and Mexico briefly for a bit before coming back to his wife Tanya, they decided that Washington state was no longer a good place to live and decided to move to Illinois and they still ended up getting a job in healthcare facility, which was just in time because they ended up having a second child, a baby boy named Sacramento. Uh they're still having two Children like to take care of, force them to do work long hours and pick giggs and construction and other projects. Anderson never shied away from hard work and it would be an example of someone who would do anything for his family. It's the american dream to come to this country and be able to go ahead and be an example for his Children. People come to this country to provide for a family, make sure they have it better than they than he had it and still would never forget about his parents and siblings in Mexico and help them out as much as he could. But to make sure that they also had a good, you know, as a young man, he left his parents and siblings to bring back what he could and she's wife, uh Tanya and rest and his wife, Tanya were blessed with a girl named Emily which keeps him going to do what's best for his family. And still also had his two sons go and graduate from college with a degree with their degrees from two Great Chicago universities and in wanting to see his daughter, I'm going to do the same is Ernesto and his wife Tanya only only completed middle school. They are surely proper parents in an opportunity that wouldn't happen at the, if it wasn't for them coming to the United States, he's surely proud of his Children and people seem to forget that people come here to do what's best for their family. And this reminds his Children that when he could, that, that coming to United States was not easy and his Children truly appreciate their nest Antonio made this journey to come to United States. Chapter 4 15 are necessary. Surely someone who has worked hard and serves a lot of respect and love as he is. People come to this country for the american dream and he has truly been someone who came here and change his family for generations to come. A journey of a 15 year old kid to being a man in his 50s at this present time and the story continues, this man is like the father of many first generation americans of mexican ascent, the one of millions of people who have changed who have the american dream and struggle to get their life for themselves and their future families. People who are the Children of these dreamers should never forget. Their parents struggle to come here, rest in peace to those who tried to come to United States. But unfortunately we're not able to get across the border and forever lost. At the times of the rio grande, pray for those who are still struggling to come to United States. Um, for better life, they're not criminals, they're not trying to steal jobs or commit crimes, they just want more for themselves and will work an honest day's work long hours and will sleep to grasp the concept of the american dream. So many of us take for granted
