this fragment is all that is left of the sculpture of a queen. Experts are fairly sure that it's from the reign of the Pharaoh Akhenaten and that the sculpture could only have been a royal commission made of yellow Jasper. It's harder than steel, and great skill would have been required to carve and polish it. Though highly stylised, the ridge line on the lips defines the expression, making it more human, and the slight asymmetry of the mouth directs our imagination to the demeanour of this queen who lived over 3000 years ago.
