at Lowe's we protect what matters. Our associates, our customers, our families in the store in the aisle and in the home every day, in every situation. In june 2022 we're talking about loading and unloading products safe warehouse associates and drivers can be injured while loading and unloading at the warehouse dot drivers are also susceptible to loading or unloading incidents while at a customer site, safe practices can ensure that Associates are safe, both at the receiving or loading dock and while out on delivery first. Let's talk about unloading product in the receipt area before you open a trailer to begin unloading. Be sure to ask yourself, is this a safe area to part? Can you safely enter, exit and unload the trailer? Is the use of a lift gate required? Or can product be unloaded by hand? Is your path of travel clear of trip, slip and fall hazard? Could items have shifted in transit that could fall towards you when opening the door? Is the terrain slippery or uneven? Now let's talk about loading product and delivery. Is the vehicle in part parking brake engaged, powered off with the key remove. Are the vehicle wheels chocked with two chops? Is the dock plate operational and safe to use? Do I need a dolly or cart team lift or any other assistance of low products on my delivery route? Are there any gas tanks or hazmat items that require being secured down? The last thing we want to make sure you know, is how to use and not use the lift gate. Never use the lift gate for any purpose other than lifting a lowering cargo from the trailer, never used as a personal lift. Keep hands and feet clear of all pinch points. Do not place body parts under, within or around a moving lift gate or its mechanical part stand to the side of the platform while operating the lift gate. Beware of weather conditions that can cause the lift gate to be slippery. Do not remove vehicle until the lift gate is securely stowed. Working load safe means putting safety at the heart of everything you do inside and outside of work. And remember if you see something, say something together, we can protect what matters.
