auto calibration system. The auto calibration system is a method to automatically and independently reestablish the calibration of the strain gauge load cell that measures the forest during opening. Figure 6.0 of the original manual contains a view of the Auto Cal System. Hardware. The hardware portion of the system consists primarily of a balance assembly and a set of known weights. During auto calibration. The balance acts as a fulcrum to transfer the gravitational force on the weights to a horizontal force acting on the tab hook arm. The balance is made up of a horizontal arm and a vertical arm connected by a shaft mounted in a set of precision low friction bearings. Mhm. The vertical arm is half the length of the horizontal arm. Therefore, the force applied to the Tabuk is twice the amount of the weights. A counterbalance weight is mounted on the left of the horizontal balance arm to negate the weight of the balance arm itself. Only the weight of the weights is transferred to the hooks.
