Missy Dawsey Lewis

IOver the course of 29 years , I taught high school English (English I - IV, AP English Language and Composition, AP English Literature and Composition, and International Baccalaureate DP Language A years 1and 2,) Teacher Cadet (Education 111), grammar and composition, mythology, SAT and ACT preparatory classes, and middle school ELA. While my English classes followed specific requirements based upon state, national and international curricula, I found much joy in creating and implementing lessons and activities that allowed the students to showcase their talents and their interests. The elective classes I taught provided me with the opportunities to create and write my own curriculum based upon children’s literature, mythological tales, Biblical readings, non-fictional texts, and materials used in SAT and ACT testing. Many of my lessons required the recording of reading materials for other teachers to use as resources to help students with IEP’s and reading challenges.
