it never crossed her mind to scream. All she could do was open her eyes and gulp in lung fulls of smoke filled air. As she struggled to breathe, she repeatedly blinked to see better in the smoke and dust. She was lying on her back looking toward the sky, through the car's open roof, check him, make sure he's all right, make sure he's breathing! The words echoed in her mind and yet she couldn't move. The smoke thickened, dancing and joy while curling and intoxicating bounds. Finding her throat from the air, blurring her vision with bluish green light and making her almost deaf. It hurts so bad. The pain reached her fast as her body started to move on its own accord, tired of waiting for her mind to catch up nothing but her mind was stopping her from moving. She crawled onto all 4s as she landed with a thump on the car's windscreen in the background. Everything was silent. To silent. It was like the silence before the world ended. Now that her mind was catching up with her body, all she wanted was to reach Dylan and check if he was alright. The pain was not gone. It lingered and weighed her body down, but her concern for Dylan was much stronger than the pain. With a strength she didn't know she had. She pulled the door handle and clung to it until it budged open. The sweat on her handle was making her slip. On the first try. She almost wept in joy when it opened, but the thickening smoke and increasing heat in the car reminded her to be in haste. She pushed the door open and climbed out, leaving the door open to reduce the smoke in the car. She rushed to the other side of the car and pulled it open. A hot gust of flame met her as she struggled to pull Dylan free from his seat belt. His upper body landed with a thump at her feet when she finally pulled him free, and with the last of her strength she dragged him out of the car and a few feet away, just as the flame gave way to fire. An icy gust of wind made the fire angry and chased after her and Dylan as she struggled to escape from it. The breeze taunted to fire and fed it mocking lee.
