When I look at my neighborhood and the surrounding city, it's easy to feel overwhelmed by the number of possible changes that could be made public. Value thinking is a strategic lens I can use to develop ideas that will add value to people's lives by creating alignment across the support capacity and purpose for my project, I can continuously improve my idea in an ever changing environment. Public value thinking helps me and my team select the best ideas out of a seemingly bottomless well of possibilities. We can gauge the support we have or need to get from our authorize ear's, we can evaluate the resources and capabilities needed to carry out our plan and we can anticipate the effect our idea will have on the future when it comes to fruition. Creating public value is a complex and challenging process. But through the lens of public value thinking, I maximize the likelihood that our efforts will reach their potential.
