Women are not confined to domestic roles but also strive daily to provide for their homes and they remain a key part of the solution to improve in energy access. Solar sister has empowered local women across africa to invest in clean energy businesses. The women energy entrepreneurs are provided with essential services and training that enables them build sustainable energy businesses and also close some of the energy access gaps in their communities. Josephine is a hospital cleaner in Plateau State, helping to put solar products in the hands of her people. Antonia is a school teacher in Anambra State who saw her mother use firewood to cook and was inspired to preach the gospel of clean Energy in her community, who is a retired school teacher in Ogun state, has now become an agent of change by convincing many women in her community to switch to clean energy. These women entrepreneurs were selected for the economic empowerment program based on their financial commitment and their willingness to improve energy access. The model to empower women with sustainable energy driven economic opportunities has proven to be a catalyst of change in the lives of many women energy entrepreneurs across Nigeria, Josephine antonia and lucy are examples of the solar system entrepreneurs who have turned their financial fortunes around and are making a difference by helping to scale up energy access in their respective communities
