I'm in a happy place. Now, career wise, John began, but that wasn't always the case. One day a little over a year ago, I was driving home with a smile on my face because I felt the interview I'd just gone to had gone. Well, I was just grateful for the opportunity to interview for a job. I'd lost my six figure job five months prior and it turned my life upside down. I could not sleep well, for days, I was restless, irritable and depressed. I even made excuses when my friends asked why I didn't show up for bowling. My favorite activity with every passing day, I was feeling less hopeful of finding a job that would pay as well as the one I had lost. John leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. The firelight flickered over his features and the forest around the group got quiet as though it was listening in on the conversation just as raptly as everybody else. You see, I went to a good school. I know my stuff and I'm a hard worker. I always do a good job and I'm generally well liked by others. I have lots of friends and love to socialize. I can confidently say I didn't deserve to be fired. I wasn't the problem. The problem was my supervisor.
