in my first couple of years as a working mom, I was so overwhelmed paying the bills and keeping a roof over our heads. It sometimes felt like all I was doing for my daughter or son was making sure her basic needs were met. I fed her, changed her diapers and put her to bed. But I didn't feel like I had the time or energy for much else. I was exhausted and alone and I couldn't see a way out of my rut. Then I got some help. I also learned that making time for connection and meeting her emotional needs is just as important as taking care of her basic needs. I had never thought about it that way. Life is still challenging. But now I make time to show my child care through listening, playing and comforting him or her. I am so glad I found support.
