the writing process preparation. During this stage, you have to establish your purpose. First, ask yourself. Why do I want to inform, entertain or persuade the audience about my topic? Once you identify your purpose, you need to specify your persona as a writer. Will you be a magazine columnist, an activist politician or a lawyer? This will set the tone, language and level of formality in your paper. In addition to this, you have to be in form of the character, interest, background and preferences of your target readers. This will make it easier for you to convince them and sustain their attention. Finally, you need to think of the topic you are writing and the type of output that you will produce.
