just some old truck written and narrated by T. J. Garber. Looking down at a magazine, I saw a black and white picture of a family, a little baby being held by his father and surrounded by siblings. You could see the nostalgia and grandpa's eyes as he read through the article. However, this particular piece wasn't about his family, it was about the newest piece of farm equipment and it happened to be the background for the photo, A brand new 1937 Chevy Pickup Truck. Originally black and had seen a few colors through the years. Once a machine for hauling materials was now a beautiful show car. The black truck was now a canary yellow sitting on whitewall tires with a refinished wood green bed and custom fenders and bumpers, an overhaul on the engine giving it a few more horsepower while still keeping the in line six original feel. It's called many special things but nothing more precious than the grandkids and great grandkids as they tour about the front yard. It makes its appearance at the car club and some local shows. Grandpa's even made a poster board to tell of the truck's history with a sign that politely asked for people not to climb on his truck. Although I have seen him leading Children from time to time and he gets the biggest kick out of the excitement on their faces as they pretend to drive the truck. I can only imagine it reminds him of when he learned to drive. After another glance at the article, it hit me it had been there, his entire life full of memories and rebuilt with his own hands, part reminiscent, part heirloom, a legacy to be passed down to the next generation. It was then, I was given a new sense of gratitude for the things I had in my life, and the truck was pretty nice, too. And this concludes the audio audition for T. J. Garber.
