It was sometime in the 19 nineties. And I stood before a group of adults in Palo Alto, California that had taken a traffic school class that I had taught. They were not there because they had, uh, come to hear a great speaker or because they wanted to spend a day in class. They were there because they had received a ticket. But we had spent time together. We'd spent a full day together. And as I was closing, I said, uh, we've spent eight hours together today. We've shared our stories. We've shared our moments. We have shared our lives. And now as we go from this place, hopefully we're enriched by getting to know each other. We've established friendships. Some of us will stay in touch others. We will lose track of each other. But we are always a part of each other's lives. It was human connection and it was intentional because as I had walked to that classroom, uh, earlier that morning, to prepare the room very intentionally in my heart, in my mind, I was preparing myself to love the people to add value to their lives and to have them add value to my life, I wanted more than to teach a lesson. But to have a relationship with that group of 30 to 40 people. And that has been my approach. Over many years, over 50 years of speaking to build friendships, to build relationships with the people in the crowd. I'm having the same moment with you right now. I'm having the same attitude. I don't see you. I don't know your name. I don't know who will see this, but I have a vision in my mind of you uh somewhere in the world watching this video, whether by accident or by intention and receiving something and you and I are connected. It is the human connection that communicates more powerfully, more poignantly more dramatically and in a more life changing and life affirming way than anything else. And so I encourage you as public speakers, as teachers, as content providers to investigate that connection and the possibility for an even deeper connection as you uh speak to people and as you provide uh information and information and motivation and even entertainment that the crowd becomes more than a crowd, but becomes a collection of people, a network of people who will always be a part of your life from this moment on and forever. Have a wonderful bountiful, productive and significant day. My friend. Farewell.
