Skill Overview

Sound Design

Travis has worked in theatrical sound design for the past 10 years operating out of New York City. They have composed music for small and large ensembles, as well as for vocal performance. Through their work on Off Broadway theatre, they have become adept at building speaker systems for a variety of performances. And they really enjoy field recording, and bringing sounds they have recorded into their design work. They also just finished up a Masters in Sound Design with Carnegie Mellon University specializing in creating objects for sonic interaction. Their graduate thesis Putting Sonic Making in the Hands of the Performer focused on developing a series of MaxMSP patches that allowed the performer to interact with sound without needing to have any sonic background. Accessibility to sound, whether for performance or listening, is a major tenet of their design practice.
