The answer depends on which recording software you used to do the original recording. This answer is based on a limited set of Macintosh software applications.

ProTools: Some earlier versions included a "bounce to MP3" capability. Later versions require you to purchase an MP3 plug-in that allows you to "bounce" the file to an MP3.

Twisted Wave: Under the FILE menu, simply SAVE the file as an MP3 file, and the conversion is automatic.

Audacity: Under the FILE menu, simply EXPORT the file or files to MP3.

Audition: When the File window is open, under the FILE menu, you can simply SAVE the file as an MP3.

ITunes: Under the ADVANCED menu, you can CREATE AN MP3 Version.

Hope this helps.
