I'm trying to eventually set up my home studio but this is all new to me. I was referred to this person and he suggested this partnering idea. He also has a portable rig that he would teach me how to use.
What do you think?

Perhaps - it depends on your ability to catch learn things on a computer. Equipment choices are easy - you'd likely start cheaply - with a USB microphone and computer, a software recording and editing program.
I would think you could learn what you need to know in under a week.

I heard Apple computers are the best to use for recording but other than Apple what other computer can be used?
