What mic would you recommend to complement a Shure KSM-32?

My primary mic at this point is a Shure KSM-32 condenser.
It's smooth, warm and accurate and I have no problem with it for most reads... but am looking for another (different sounding) mic (condenser) that has a "crisper" quality... with a little more high freq presence for certain reads.

I tried an EV RE20 and it seems that dynamic mics require so much gain boost that they introduce too much noise into the signal chain... so don't think I'd go with a dynamic mic.

Would appreciate any suggestions... thanks

I personally like the RĂ˜DE NT1-A. It's always made magic for me.

For voiceovers, although you can use them, I wouldn't recommend a dynamic mic, as it doesn't seem to have the same range and sounds flatter than a condenser mic.

One thing you can try, before you go mic shopping is to run effects after your read to see if you can produce the sound you want.

Another thing that might help you decide what mic you want is a plug in a friend of mine uses.

It's called, Antares Mic Modeler, Located here: http://www.antarestech.com/products/amm.shtml

It can basically emulate the sounds of other microphones. This may be able to produce the sound you want. Try the demo first, and see if it can make magic for you.

All the best,
