how do I get my good voiceover message that i have recorded to sound as good when recorded on a customers telephone?

You can't.  Phone messages are rough, as they already compress the voice.  If you are recording in by phone, sending an mp3 or a ULAW file, quality will be lost.  The customer is saddled with the tech they have.  If they have someone in IT that will be transferring your voice into a phone system, first be sure to ask what file format they want and if it is not specified, deliver it as .wav (highest quality).  Remove all breaths and clicks as these will sound very sharp when compressed for the phone.  That's really all you can do!
