Algernon amble slowly across his acreage looking for ants. Ants were his passion and swear his thing. Ants where his ambition, you might say ants. Plain and simple, fancy or spicy. It made little difference to Al Jean on white hands, red ends or black ends. It made No, never mind. To him, on end was an end was an end. That was the situation at exactly 12 and 1/2 minutes past 10 oclock on the morning of June 26 1981. But at exactly 13 and 1/2 minutes past 10 o'clock on that same morning, the entire situation changed because that was the exact minute, the precise time, the historic moment when Algernon discovered chocolate covered ants. Someone I don't know, who had left a full jar of chocolate covered ants in al Jenin's backyard. Someone it could have been. Anyone left that jar with a partially opened lid, just waiting to be pried off by a long sticky and eat a tongue. Whoever that someone was, they were most careless and that someone will go down in Aunt Tita history as either the most blessed or most cursed, depending on the point of view. you see, it all depends on the way one looks at the situation, because finding that jar of chocolate covered ants changed al Jenin's life completely forevermore, no more would he be the simple, rustic animal he had always been. You would never be content. Toe amble slowly across his acreage, searching out organic ants to satisfy his hunger. No longer. Absolutely not. His tastes were forever changed. He had become sophisticated. He must dine on those delicious, sweet, crunchy, exotic goodies that he discovered in that jar. His appetite for chocolate covered ants became insatiable. He must have mawr.
