my name is Amelia. And for this project I am going to explore the topic of credibility. How does information shape the way we think about the world? How does it influence and guide us in the decisions we make right now. In 2022 we are oversaturated with information. And let's face it, social media platforms such as Youtube, facebook instagram, twitter and Tiktok have dominated our attention with the trend of social media deliver news stories. How do we as a society even begin to discern between what's real and what's fake? There are many articles online that address the topic of credibility, but the one I've chosen to share is by Sarah Coates, a research librarian at Oklahoma State University Libraries. In 2011 she published a website called Finding credible sources and defines credibility as the quality or power of inspiring belief coats includes a laundry list of questions to ask yourself when evaluating credibility such as who is the intended audience? What is the medium used? And how does it contribute or detract from the claim the person or entity is making? What's the main argument? What evidence do they use to support their arguments? Do they include counter arguments if not? Why? Okay, so that's great and all but how many of us are actually asking these questions to ourselves when we're bombarded with information
