At 8:45 a.m. the Al Qaeda hijackers flew a plane directly into the North Tower. At first it seemed like a terrible accident, but then minutes later, another plane hit the South Tower, witnesses at the scene and watching on television at home, realized this was an attack. People fled from the Tar side as fast as they could, but others ran towards the Tars. These were first responders, firefighters, paramedics and other emergency workers, hundreds of whom would lose their lives in an effort to save others within two hearts of the first impact, both of the twin towers collapsed.
