an excerpt from Penned From the Heart. Volume 20 compiled and edited by Maryland Nutter. Cleaning Up Messes by Gloria Dodi So from now on, we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come. The old has gone, the new is here. All this is from God who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the Ministry of Reconciliation that God was reconcile ing the world to himself in Christ, not counting people's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. Second, Corinthians 5 16 to 19. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all un righteousness. First John. 19 New International version. You've probably seen a commercial for paper towels where a dog shakes mud and dirt onto every kitchen surface. The blender has no lid and spews liquid everywhere. Dad spills his coffee and the spaghetti sauce boils over onto the stove. Mom comes to the rescue with paper towels to clean up the mess and in minutes the kitchen is neat and clean. This scenario is staged, but there are days in our lives that look similar. We may not make messes in our kitchens, but we mess up our marriages, friendships, health, finances and our relationship with God. There are often repercussions from our messes, some we aren't able to clean up, and some we aren't willing to clean up. The good news is, Jesus was willing to clean up our messes with his death on the cross. As we walk our Christian journey, we make messes, and Jesus continues to forgive Jesus. Thank you for dying for me and continuing to clean up the messes I create. Amen.
