service to the university, to the country, to humanity. It is inherent in who we are. It is the common thread connecting Prince Tony INS way served by working for the interests of others in the nation or the world, not ourselves. Eventually, this notion of Princeton in the nation's service became the university's clarion call. This service has long stretched beyond our nation's borders, with students and alumni heating a call to make a positive impact on the world. It's a threat that is part of the fabric of Princeton, creating new knowledge and opportunity and giving back to the university to your country, to your fellow human beings. The threat of service starts with our alumni, who for generations have so generously given back toe old NASA and continue to make prints than a priority long after graduation. By organizing events such as reunions and regional gatherings by coordinating alumni groups and community service projects by raising essential funding and spreading awareness by serving as a mentor, an interviewer and ambassador a motivator, you help Princeton remain a preeminent institution of higher learning, attracting the greatest student and faculty minds from around the world. To put it simply Princeton is possible only because of your service. We serve to pass on that greatest of gifts to the next generation. Sometimes to serve, you don't have to journey beyond your own community or do much more than listen. Alley Lichterman was a volunteer tutor at Princeton's community house after school Academy when she noticed many of the middle school students had instruments with them. One day, pulled out her flute, started playing Katy Perry on the flu. A violinist herself, Ali then brought some fellow members of Princeton Sinfonia Orchestra to play with the middle school students. They continue to me once a week, mentoring and playing music and even performed together at public events at Princeton. Service to Humanity extends toward Teaching and research Mission. We're providing educational opportunities to promising students beyond those enrolled in our undergraduate and graduate programs. Research is exciting because it's cutting edge, and this is a type of excitement that we're trying to share with. The R Houston is when they come into campuses that hey, look, you're not just doing research, doing something that no one's ever done before. The Research Experience for Undergraduates program gives top students from other universities access to equipment and labs they don't have at their schools, along with the chance to do research with the world's leading scientific minds, were hoping they not only get excited about the science but also the university and the possibility of coming back in a few years as a graduate. Water so easy to take for granted until it's lost. This happened to Lupita. Hyah, Peru. When the villages river became contaminated with mining waste. Princeton chapter of Engineers Without Borders has worked with village residents on an ongoing project to discover clean sources of water and create a gravity fed supply system. The first is kind of amazing way saw that actually works. This program also taught the community how to repair and maintain the system themselves has give it up. You actually see what helping people looks like a concrete way. A new project impacting nearly five times as many homes is now underway as a Cohen and Shinawatra's saw service so important they were determined to use their bridge here to tell the world I waas lucky enough, Teoh Go Teoh, a nonprofit in India, and film, a documentary about the NGOs work and about the people who are doing really extraordinary. They're stirring film. Specks of dust shines a light on the important work of urea, an organization helping the Children of sex trafficking and Varanasi, India. I just never would have thought to make service work a part of my life until I went to India. It's part of my world now. You know. I can't abandon it. Gloria does more than just rescue the Children. They provide education and financial support to put them on a path to a better future. While specks of dust brings attention to a bleak problem, it also documents reasons for hope. Here in Princeton, I became a part of a wide variety of student activities which helped cement for me the importance of community and public service, this threat of services, what connects us to each other, to the university, to our communities and to all of humanity. Princeton helps shape and is shaped by people like you are alumni, volunteers, people making a positive impact through service for this generation and those to come. I live with Princeton's motto in my Home as you do, because it was emblazoned there during our time here. Princeton, in the nation's service and in the service of humanity
