Imagine you and your family are ripped from your home and forced out into the middle of nowhere. This was a reality for hundreds of thousands in Kenya in 2007, violence erupted when presidential election results were disputed, homes were burned, thousands were killed and families had to escape. By 2008, over 600,000 became refugees in their own country known as internally displaced people with nowhere to go. Families were stranded in ID P camps for years, overwhelmed by disease, substance abuse and starvation with no resources or infrastructure, rebuilding their lives is a challenge. But at the foundation, what's truly needed is education. Now, I imagine if there was a way to help in 2009, village impact was formed with a mission to build schools for these communities through partnerships with local governments and communities. These schools are supported and sustainable. This mission is made possible because of donors like you donate today and make an impact forever.
