Khalifa Sat is the first proudly homegrown satellite manufactured in the United Arab Emirates in the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre, the proud birthplace of the national space programme. On the morning of the 29th October, it was launched from Japan's Tanegashima Space Centre into low earth orbit aboard the liquid fuelled H two, a rocket. Khalifa Sat is the third earth observation satellite. It has a planned mission lifespan of five years. The satellite is one of the first steps in the country's ambitious space projects. It is a beacon of inspiration, encouraging the next generation of scientists in the to reach for the stars.
