During the procedure, doctors first threat a specialized catheter from the groin to the vessels in the brain. Then they inject a patient with Di. The dye allows doctors to visualize their route to the tumor in the brain. Then the patient is injected with the patient's stem cells that have been loaded up with the Delta 24 virus. Once the stem cells reach the tumor, it can completely invade the tumor from the inside out. By using the tumor's blood vessels, the virus can effectively infiltrate the entire tumor as it invades the tumor. The Delta 24 virus continues to replicate itself and attack the tumor cells. This signals the body to send immune cells to fight the virus. As the immune system destroys the virus, the remaining tumor cells get caught in the middle and are destroyed as well. This destruction is what then causes the tumor to significantly, if not completely shrink away
