It was just a phone call. The first step they told me there was a safe place I could come. It wasn't easy to reach out for help. But the woman I spoke to made me feel so reassured. She really understood my situation. It was the first time I'd really been listened to in such a long time. It was just a relief to be believed. All those worries and questions I had is what I'm going through abuse. Would I have to go to the police move into a refuge? We're all completely normal. But mostly she helped me realize it wasn't my fault. And what I was feeling was justified when you've been ground down. You lose hope. We've worked on making a plan to move forward. We went through my options and just knowing I had choices were so freeing. She told me to just call. If I had any questions or needed to talk, knowing someone was there for me was everything. Our support will always be confidential and non judgmental. We'll help you to access the support and services you need and give you the space to make the right choices for you. I'll never forget our first conversation and the impact it had on me. It's been one step at a time. But given all women's aid has helped me find some courage and hope. Hope for a better future
