I'm Ian Tanna. I'm Ian Santana. And you're listening to W P S R in the know the goat. No, not that goat, G O A T. Greatest of all time, many sports are considered amongst fans to have one of these miraculous players for which no one else in the history of their sport will ever be better than. However, in most sports, there is at least an argument between two players for who sits atop the mountain for being the very best of the very best basketball fans. Battle between Jordan or lebron. Heated arguments happened between soccer fans over Messi or Ronaldo for its top spot. However, when it comes to the NFL, one man is constantly photoshopped, donning the horns of the animal with the same name as the acronym of glory. That man is Thomas Brady, the seven time Super Bowl champion and winningest player in the history of the national football league is said to be far and away. The greatest football player ever. I however will come out and say that not only do I think Tom Brady is not the goat but also that he is quite possibly one of the most overrated players, not just in football but in sports period on the surface, Brady's case for goat seems to be valid as the guy has been the champion of his league seven different times. A feat only he has accomplished. However, we must remember football is a team game. You need all 11 guys offensive and defensive in order to be great. Brady has been the focal point for many people's reasons as to why the new England Patriots were so good in the 4000 tens. Even though in 2008, when Brady was out for the entire season, the Patriots still won 11 out of their 16 football games with a mediocre at best Matt Castle under center and in 2016, when Brady was suspended for his role in deflategate, the Patriots went three and one with Jimmy Garro and Jacoby Beet Manning the offense. When you look at how other top teams during that era did without their starting quarterbacks, it doesn't look near as good as quote, Brady's Patriots. Peyton Manning's Colts went from a 10 and six playoff team to a two and 14 team with a top five draft pick. Peyton Manning's Colts went from a 10 and six playoff team to a two and 14 team with a top five draft pick and the Packers have never won more than three games without Aaron Rodgers at the helm. When you look at things outside of a quarterback's control Brady compared to the other top quarterbacks in his era has had it good. He on average has the eighth best starting field position and the ninth best defensive points allowed per drive. While other top quarterbacks Manning Rodgers and Brees don't crack the top 10 in a single one of those categories. Brady, consistently, Brady also consistently played in one of the easiest divisions in the NFL when no team in the Patriots division having a higher win percentage in the past two decades, than 46%. And now for what? And now for what is the simplest and easiest argument to make for Brady being as good as he is. He had Bill Freakin Belichick undoubtedly the greatest coach and G M in the history of the national football league as his coach for the majority of his career, Belichick ran an offense and hired offensive gurus to allow Brady to throw checkdown routes resulting in massive ****. And now for what is simply the easiest argument to make for Brady being as good as he is. And now for what is the simplest and easiest argument to make for Brady being as good as he is. He had Bill freaking Belichick undoubtedly the greatest coach and G M in the history of the national football league as his coach for the majority of his career, Belichick ran an offense and hired offensive gurus to allow Brady to throw checkdown routes, resulting in massive stat lines. It's this offense and firepower from a coaching perspective that allowed other quarterbacks to step in and do perfectly fine in the Patriots offense. He was also Belichick was also a defensive minded head coach and a good one at that, allowing for his defenses to consistently help the offense with things such as field position and not giving up points to their opponent. Aside from Belichick himself, having one coach, which equals one system for your entire career is also a recipe for success. The other previously mentioned quarterbacks have had at least three head coaching changes throughout their careers. So in the next time U C Sports Center or NFL Network, praise Brady for being the goat. Just remember this in depth and the truth that is the overrated, blown out of proportion. Greatness that football fans give Thomas Brady, thanks for tuning in. I'm Ian Santana for this week's edition of W P S R in the note. Thanks for tuning in.
