Phonics. Phonics is the method of teaching beginners to read and pronounce words by learning the phonetic values of letters, group of letters, syllables, et cetera. In short, translate written language into speech. Phonetics. Phonetics is the study and classification of spoken sounds in language. There are 26 letters in the alphabet. It is interesting to know that every word in the English language can be written using just 26 letters. All we need to know is which letters to choose and the order to put them in to make a word phonemic awareness. It is an insight or an understanding that a word is made up of a series of sounds. 26 letters of English alphabets have 44 distinct sounds. 19 of the 44 English are vowels. The letters A eiou are classified as vowels and these five letters are used to represent many different sounds. It is important for the Children to hear and decode the correct sound before they move on to recognize it in the print form and read it.
