It's a simple idea, really. Liberty Ah Bond Investment platform for everyone. The first bond dates back to approximately 2400 BC in Mesopotamia. It's a stone discovered in present day Iraq. This particular bond guaranteed the payment of corn by the principal. Back then, a bond was a pretty simple affair. I give you money and you give me an I O. U. But as you can imagine, this was done between people who knew and trusted each other. Then it got complicated, as people who didn't know each other started interacting to resolve this issue of trust, all sorts of intermediaries started to pop up. Custodians, depositories, registrars, clearinghouses, trustees and so on evolved around a growing bond market. Bonds are now the world's biggest asset class, with over $100 trillion in value, and it works seamlessly for institutional players, the big boys. But with all these intermediary costs, the buying and selling of bonds became too expensive. Retail investors are largely excluded. The current system is simply not designed for a modern retail investor. Do we really need a complex system with all these intermediaries? Let's use modern technology to take us all the way back to the first bond transactions. Let's make bond investing simpler, faster, better and accessible to everyone at liberty. We aim to do just that. Build an inclusive bond platform so that bond investments can be simple again for everyone.
