at 8:46 p.m. On December 5th 2019 Pete Davis was watching TV when his mother, Jennifer, entered the living room to tell him there was a faint, persistent chirping sound coming from the garage. When Pete went to investigate, he quickly discovered the source of the beeping. The carbon monoxide alarm on the wall needed a new battery. Pete rooted around on his dad's workbench for a new set of Double A's, reset the alarm and went outside to sneak a cigarette, thinking everyone could rest easy now that the alarm was in proper working order. Carbon monoxide. It's odorless. Cover this that can be deadly, and it's in cigarette smoke. No matter how many carbon monoxide alarms Pete installs in his house, it won't change the fact that the same toxic chemical in the body can lead to permanent cardiovascular damage. And until it's too late, Pete might never know it. But now you D'oh!
