surround yourself with the right people. There were cops moving in and out of the line of young black men against the wall. I was somewhere in the middle of the group, scared to death, wondering what to do. My parents had a secret pocket. I had sewn into them. Inside the pocket was about $3,000 worth of crack cocaine In a small 3 80 caliber automatic pistol. As a convicted felon. I knew my secret pocket Held about 40 years worth of prison time. I can hear the police cursing and ranting as they exchanged insults with the young men who stood on either side of me. The police knew the men by street names which they were using as they patted down each man getting closer and closer to me. I wondered if I should run. I knew if one of the officers filled my pockets. I was going to jail just in one of the undercover cops who was wearing a mask, grabbed me by the back of my jacket and pulled me from the line. He asked me my name and what I was doing out here with the drug dealers. I told him I lived in the neighborhood. I was walking home from work when I got caught up in the raid. I knew the cops didn't know me yet because I hadn't sold drugs in this area very long. He asked if I had an I. D. And I quickly pulled out my license. The officer asked where I worked and I told him he looked at me for a minute. It said get out of here and I better not see you again. I quickly jogged from the scene. My heart's still racing as I realized how close I was to going back to prison. The Bible says in 1st Corinthians Chapter 15 verse 33 Do not be misled. Bad company corrupts good habits. My grandmother taught me things like birds of a feather, flock together. You are the company you keep, your friends will make you or break you and so on. Most of these phrases or sayings have some truth to them. People are successful, surround themselves with people who encourage success. On the other hand, people who fail in life often have people who discouraged them or contributed to their negative lifestyle, who we surround ourselves with says a lot about us as a person, in our personal desires in life. Most drug addicts enjoy the company of other drug users. Most argument of people spend their time around other people who enjoy arguing successful people don't remain in the company of people who do not contribute to their success
