Chapter 15 The Comfort Circle, Now that we've seen how imprints collide to create unhealthy and even destructive core patterns. We need to see how to escape those old dances. We've already challenged you to develop a new awareness of your own impaired love style, take charge of it and work toward becoming a secure connector. You'll find many more specific solutions and growth goals in the workbook, but by now you should have a pretty good idea of what your marriage dance looks like and you know, some adjustments are necessary. If you want to do a new and healthier dance together, you will need to learn how to take steps around the comfort circle. Remember the comfort question in Chapter two, can you recall being comforted as a child after a time of emotional distress? If you're like many people, you have little or no memory of comfort and did not feel deeply known and valued by your parents when you were growing up. So we want to make sure you develop the ability to bring comfort and relief to each other in your marriage. The steps around the comfort circle are designed to help you do just that. Learning to become vulnerable, share your feelings, Speak truthfully, listen deeply and bring relief to your mate will revolutionize how you love.
