Chapter one we all think we are rational but my mom always shared my Angelo's famous quote I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did but people will never forget how you made them feel. In today's digital world. That could not be more true. We are so constantly bombarded with noise information and marketing that it is near impossible to remember every message you scroll past on social media. However if they do it right, you remember how those brands made you feel In March 2020. The world had the same feelings, shock fear, confusion. The Global COVID-19 pandemic became strong, intense and powerful at the time I was starting my new position at my company but it was from home. I went from video intern to social media intern. And in that transition period the whole world went into lockdown. I realized early on this was a shift, this was a shift in how we all would work live and feel. I made sure to approach social media in that way people did not want to be sold to actually. They never really did. They wanted to feel safe, they wanted to feel heard they wanted to feel some sense of normalcy and as a marketer, I was one of the people who could help them do that. I realized how I could use my superpower empathy in a meaningful way. I understood the importance of writing to people's emotions, not just the target demographic by using language that involve them and made them the focus of the conversation. I was able to make the audience feel something. I realized the power of marketing that focuses on emotions. I studied companies that do this on a regular basis. Then I created a new category, Empathy marketing. Let me tell you how I got there in the midst of the pandemic. I decided to seek therapy to keep up with my mental health. I had always said that everyone should have a therapist to stay in touch with her mental health. But I was just talking to talk. Finally, I decided a global pandemic might be a good opportunity to walk the walk. I reached out to my sister in law down in Nashville because I knew she had an amazing therapist and I wanted that I needed someone I could trust. Soon after I was talking to my therapist tray weekly about my personal identity life, the world and how it all interacts. The best part about Trey is that he knows therapy is a journey, he knows it is about evolving, not fixing Trey utilizes an ancient tool called the angiogram to understand people's personalities as well as study how it affects their lives.
