standing on the porch was a middle aged woman wearing a dirty yellow dress with several patches. She was pale and thin and not very stable on her feet. The paper the agent gave, Brian said her name was Louise Parsons. He was stunned at the side of her and the house and wondered if he should call the boys home to come and get him. He thought about it and decided to find out what was going on. First, he could always call later. He hated the thought of going back to the home one day after leaving, the boys would love to tease him about that. Louise motioned for Brian. As he came near, he handed her the paper. She pointed to her throat and handed him a note. It was awkwardly hand printed, the note said. I am Louise Parsons. I am not in good health, but I agreed to give one boy Ah, home a place to grow up. A man came to see me a while ago and gave me your information. I don't know who he was or why he chose you. Things are bad here. I don't have much money and my furniture is old and my house is not safe. Before my husband Bob left, he spent most of his time in the barn. So you should be able to find a place to sleep out there for now. Until I get to know you better. I will set your food on the back porch each morning and night. Brian was shocked. It was not what he expected. And none of it made sense first. Why would a widow want a foster child if she did not have enough money for her own needs? Second, how could she take care of a child in her condition? Third, why would she wait this long toe? Want a foster child? The two things that puzzled him the most were what happened to her husband and who was the mystery man who had set it up for Brian to be sent here. None of this made sense. Since Brian loved mysteries. He decided to stick around a while and work on this one. For now, he was resigned to his situation
