For some being locked in a room and forced to solve puzzles for your freedom. Sounds like a nightmare for escape room enthusiasts. It's just a normal weekend. An escape room is a puzzle solving challenge in which you and your team work against the timer to open locks, decipher codes and reveal hidden items. Though some locations have unique objectives. The overall goal is universal to escape before your time is up. The first escape room appeared in Japan in the early two thousands and the phenomenon has since spread across the world. There are currently more than 2000 escape room facilities in the United States alone. Common themes for escape rooms include pirate ships, archaeologist studies, spaceships, haunted houses and even prison cells. Some more unique themes focus on local legends and lore and many rooms draw from famous stories or movies. What do you find inside an escape room? Most commonly, a multitude of different locks. You'll see basics like numeric combination and word locks. But some rooms have more advanced types like directional locks or even a lock with musical notations instead of numbers. The recent generation of escape rooms incorporates technology into their puzzles. Instead of putting numbers into physical locks, you might flip switches, push buttons or turn dials to make a panel fall open.
